"Large discount," "falling prices," and "the biggest sale so far" have become phrases consumers rarely respond to, because a 5% discount is often advertised just as dramatically as a 70% one. That’s why experienced and informed consumers don’t react to overpromising.

The first requirement of advertising, therefore, is precision and honesty about what is being offered. That requirement must be followed by an equally important one: finding a way to draw attention. So how did conversions skyrocket?
